Brrr.....we've gotten a bit of a cold spell in the past week. The Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Parade of Lights will be here before we know it, so the time to plan is now! The theme this year is ‘It’s Beginning to look a lot like A Nevada Christmas.‘
The Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, December 10th at 5:30 p.m. The parade will flow from Spare Time Bowl area down Bridge Street to the Winnemucca Hotel area. Line up is at 4:30pm.
Civic groups, clubs, businesses and individuals are welcome to join the Parade of Lights. Each entry must be lit and be able to fit on the city street, but otherwise there are no restrictions. The Winner receives a $100 Chamber Check Gift Certificate, 2nd prize is a $50 Chamber Check.
We want to encourage everyone to please take part in this “fun for the whole community” event. The entries in the Parade of Lights have grown slightly every year and it is our hope to have that trend continue.
Immediately after the parade, spectators and participants alike are invited to the Nixon Lawn were Mayor Di An Putnam will be officially lighting the Memorial Tree (sponsored by Humboldt Volunteer Hospice). There will be Hot chocolate and caroling. Santa will be walking about and mingling with the crowd. Plan to attend and bring your camera along.
For more information or extra entry forms, contact the Chamber office at 623-2225 or check out our website www.humboldtcountychamber.com .

Wine, beer, music, appetizers, auctions, desserts and fun are all on the menu as the Chamber gets ready to host the 15th annual Harvest Hops and Grapes on Saturday, October 15th. Donations are arriving and volunteers are giving their time and talent getting ready for the big event. Hopes and Grapes Chairman Betty Lawrence says to expect some wines from Idaho this year as some Idaho vineyards have promised their wares. Beer lovers too won’t be disappointed, as Great Basin Brewery as Well as the El Dorado Brew bros will be donating some of their product this year. There will be something for everyone, even those who don’t partake, will be given a ‘designated driver’ soft drink or two on the house. There will also be something for everyone to bid on. From sporty fold to those who want to kick back and relax, the auction items will run the gamut. Tickets are on sale now at the Chamber office. $35/piece or a table of 8 for $245. The Chamber will accept credit cards, cash or a check. Get your tickets now. Call or come by the Chamber Office (623-2225).
