Winnemucca is 'charmed' to Welcome the Silver State International Radio
Time is running out! Let the Chamber office know if you'd like to particiapte in the Charm Scavanger Hunt by May 22nd please.
The Silver State International Rodeo will once again be held in Winnemucca in July (the 1st thru the 6th). If you remember last year, it was tons of fun...lots of people in town, and the 4th of July parade?
As part of their event this year, the SSIR Board has a promotion to get the adults of these kids out and about and shopping in town. It's a "Charm Bracelet Scavenger Hunt".
SSIR board is purchasing charms to give to you/your business if you want to be part of the event. At no cost to you--(they would be happy for a donation to the Senior Scholarship Fund)-- the charms are free to each establishement. During the week of July 1st thru the 5th, there will be people from the Rodeo event out and about town, looking for these charms--that could be in YOUR business if you choose to participate.
It would be similar to the Wine Walk, in that the SSIR would provide the participants/charm hunters, a map of the shops involved and you would have a sign to put in your window that says something like: I have SSIR CHARMS here! (all charms will be different in each business)
It's pretty much a win-win situation. No cost to you, and people in your store--lots of people in your store. Any business in Winnemucca can participate.
If you would like more details, please call the Chamber office at 623-2225 and we tell you all about it and can sign you up. The SSIR board needs to know by the end of May to ensure delivery of charms.

Honored for great customer service!
March was 'Customer Service Recognition Month' and the public was invited to submit people for great customer service.
The Chamber recognized and saluted these five customer service pros during the April Chamber luncheon on April 9th, at the Martin Hotel.
Heidi Teague
Heidi Teague from Financial Horizons Credit Union has been nominated for great customer service by Deborah Jaynes. Jaynes moved to Winnemucca in 2006 and was so happy to see the Credit Union branch. She feels that Heidi is always kind, courteous and the most helpful. "She has the biggest most contagious smile," says Jaynes, "I can't say enough about her!"
Vanessa Coffee
Vanessa Coffee of the Winners Star-Broiler has been nominated by Paige Brooks. Brooks has this to say: "I recently went to the new Star-Broiler. It was in incredible experience due to Vanessa Coffee. She was so friendly and welcoming, one of the most professional, fun waitresses I have encountered in a long time! The Star-Broiler will be a 1st choice for dinner when thinking of eating out from now on."
Betty Lawrence
Michele Borcher of Allied Washoe Petroleum has nominated Humboldt County Employee, Betty Lawrence of the Planning Department. "I have been pleasantly surprised when dealing with the offices of Humboldt County. Betty Lawrence has gone above and beyond in assisting me. She has graciously answered all my questions and been cheerful and timely and a true joy to work with."
Bob Potter
Carmen Koefed from the Humboldt Sun sent in a nomination for Grocery Manager Bob Potter at Raleys. Koefed says 'he always strives to make sure every Raleys customer has a great experience, whether it's helping them to find a product in the store, answering questions about an item or just having a friendly chat."
Kimberly Gubler
Ron Halper of Winnemucca called the Chamber office to say that Kimberly of Financial Horizons Credit Union always makes his day. EVERY single time he is in there. Her bright smile and great attitude and good service goes a long, long way in helping h im out.

March is Customer Service Month!
At the January luncheon, the Chamber Board recognized the
chef and kitchen staff and management of the Winnemucca Inn for all their help
during the Harvest Hops and Grapes event.
We here at the Chamber appreciate our
members!

Inn)
In the month of February, there have been over
400 visitors to the Chamber Office and not one complaint filed. Just the
opposite has happened says Debbie Stone, Chamber Office Director. People are
complimenting the service and treatment they have received at local
businesses.
"Phone calls are also a daily part of Chamber
business, but lately it seems as if we've been hit hard with calls about local
business. These call have been very positive and more like a 'spot recognition'
that tourists have taken the time to point out to the Chamber office," explains
Stone.
The Chamber of Commerce is committed to
supporting local business. That goes without saying: every Chamber is all about
business. But the Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce and office staff
recognizes that businesses can only prosper as long as the public supports
them.
March is Customer Service Recognition
month.
So, in the spirit of the Customer Service Recognition month,
the Chamber board and staff is inviting the hometown public to support local
business and contribute stories based on excellent customer service experiences
in Winnemucca.
The names and photos of individuals or businesses
acknowledged will be printed in next month's Chamber page and entered into a
drawing where one lucky winner will receive a $50 chamber check.
The drawing will be held during the April General
Membership luncheon. All persons entered into the drawing will receive a 'Great
Customer Service' certificate and acknowledgement at the luncheon.
All it takes is a quick phone call to the Chamber
office (623-2225) and we will take all your info and contact the business or
there is a more formal form you can pick up at the office to fill out to
acknowledge some great customer service.
What business Superstars are hiding out in
Humboldt County? You tell us!

A big THANK YOU to outgoing past Chamber president, Betty Lawrence for her years of service.
